In 2024, over 4.17 billion pounds of beef is expected to be imported—more than 12% of what’s sold—coming from places like Australia or Brazil, shipped across the globe. At Double B Beef, our cattle are born on our farm, graze our pastures, and finish their days just down the road from the farm. It’s a lot of effort—handling the fields, hauling feed—but it means you get beef that’s fresh, 100% local, and tied to our Idahoan land.


Quality Comes from Care


We raise our cattle the way our family thinks it should be done. They spend most of their time on grass, which keeps the beef leaner with a clean taste. For the last four months, we switch them to a mix we’ve dialed in: 20% alfalfa, 20% silage, and 40% grain. It’s not the fast, corn-heavy feedlot shortcut you see in big operations. Our way takes longer, but it pays off with tender, flavorful beef. Chain store beef often comes from cattle crowded together and rushed to market. For us, it’s about taking the time to do it right—because that’s what matters to our family.


How We Stack Up Against Chain Stores


Chain store ground beef can be a mash-up of imported scraps and whatever’s cheap, blended for price over quality. Our ground beef is straight from our cattle, raised and finished on our farm. Big producers cram cattle into tight lots with heavy grain diets to speed things up; we give ours space, time, and a balanced mix. And those “Product of USA” labels?
